Lambton Mall Celebrates 50th Birthday!

Lambton Mall is celebrating their 50th anniversary since the doors first opened. With the groundbreaking ceremony occurring in 1969, Lambton Mall welcomed the public in 1970 and have been an integral part of the Sarnia community ever since.

Lambton Mall Notable Moments

1982: Lambton Mall saw its first expansion into the east wing with the addition of the Toronto-founded supermarket chain, Dominion.

1992: Walmart is introduced to the former Woolco department store space.

2001: Tepperman’s furniture store is added to the north side of the shopping centre and Walmart transitions to the newly expanded space on the east side of the property.

2003: Lambton Mall expanded once again to welcome Sears as the new anchor tenant on the south side of the property taking over the former Walmart space.

2011: The next major development arrived with the construction of the food court and the opening of the Swedish multinational clothing-retail company, H&M.

2013: The west side of the property saw the largest improvement in 2013 with the introduction of Galaxy Cinemas and Sport Chek. This drastically changed the exterior appearance of the mall from the busy Lambton Mall Road & Exmouth Street corner.

2018: RBC opens a new branch helping to continue to shape Lambton Mall’s exterior.

2020: Europro purchases Lambton Mall. New developments included the opening of the Sarnia Police Service training centre (January), HomeSense & Marshalls (June), and Old Navy is expected to open next month in a unit totaling 18,000 square feet.
